Work to Earn

Work placement

A work placement is a great way to gain practical experience, build your resume, develop your employability skills, and learn what it takes to be successful in your field. Our work placement program for rural students, WORK2LEARN, is all about helping students learn and develop work-ready skills outside of the classroom.

Work Experience Matters!

If you are like most students, you came to college to find a good job when you graduate. There is a definite connection between participating in work placement, and landing that good job. We know employers prefer to hire graduates who have gained work term experience at their own workplace.

WORK2LEARN Programs

Work term experience gives you a head start on your career, and a competitive advantage over other recent graduates who don't have this experience.A meaningful work placement is an opportunity for you to learn and build skills for career success in your field of study. In telecom technician programs, a placement is also:

  • Paid employment (earn while you work and learn)
  • Productive work (not job shadowing or observing)
  • Starts from April
  • Ideally 4 months of full-time work (minimum 400 hours) is sufficient.
